AV Drop Brings an Immersive Experience to Illa Carlemany
This Christmas, the shopping centre Illa Carlemany is set to become the heart of Andorra’s festive season. Starting on 28 November 2025, the venue will debut its most ambitious holiday attraction yet: “El Món Màgic del Nivi,” a fully immersive experience brought to life through a custom AV Drop structure designed exclusively for the event.
“El Món Màgic del Nivi” invites visitors to discover the magical journey of a very special snowflake. At the centre of the ground floor, a large gift-shaped structure placed beneath the Christmas tree serves as the entrance to this immersive experience of storytelling.
The five-minute projection combines:
- An immersive visual narrative
- An emotional and educational storyline
- A participatory format suitable for all ages
- A creative concept developed exclusively for Illa Carlemany
Design Enhancements: From Concept to Final Installation
The initial decorative draft supplied by Illa Carlemany featured a beige background with white snowflakes and a red ribbon and bow. While elegant, AV Drop proposed visual adjustments to increase the impact of the immersive experience and enhance the seasonal atmosphere inside the shopping centre.
The final approved version, produced by AV Drop, introduced:
1. A Vibrant Green Background
Switching from beige to a bright, festive green reinforced the Christmas aesthetic and improved visibility within the retail environment.
2. Enhanced Snowflake Pattern
The snowflake graphics were refined for better readability and visual rhythm across the structure’s surface.
3. Consistent Ribbon and Bow Integration
The red ribbon and bow – the core of the “gift box” concept – were retained, but their contrast was significantly improved thanks to the new color palette.
Addition of the Nivi Character
A subtle, character-based decorative element representing Nivi was added to the background pattern, reinforcing the storytelling component of the attraction.
These design decisions ensured that the exterior of the immersive experience aligned perfectly with the narrative theme while standing out as a striking visual landmark inside the shopping centre.
Inside the Immersive Room: Structure and Execution
This immersive experience is built as a fully enclosed AV Drop structure with exterior printed panels measuring 6m.x4m., forming the overall perimeter.
Inside the room:
- The walls feature a white finish with a black upper band marking the projection area.
- The usable projection surface measures 4.95m.x2.79m., resulting in a 16:9 format as requested.
- On the projection surface, a black strip (4.95m.×56cm.) is printed to darken the upper area and enhance the sense of immersion.
Two entrances (125cm.x210cm.) allow smooth visitor flow. White intermediate walls and ceilings frame these access points, while black molton curtains isolate the interior from external light and sound. A black molton ceiling completes the installation, with openings for mounting projectors and speakers. This ceiling also creates a visual boundary between the immersive interior and the upper decorative area featuring the Christmas tree and gifts. The entire assembly – interior and exterior – is aligned with the main truss on site, used to support the installation and the audiovisual equipment.
With “El Món Màgic del Nivi,” illa Carlemany introduces a new way to experience Christmas in Andorra through storytelling, creativity, and immersive technology.
AV Drop is proud to have contributed to this seasonal landmark, delivering both the structural engineering and the final visual design for the attraction.
